Oatmeal Cookies

A few weeks ago, it was Kevin's turn to buy the next co-worker's birthday treat. He asked me to make Lemon squares and something else. I suggested Oatmeal cookies...because 1) it's easy to carry 2) We had all the ingredients at home. I actually had planned on making the cookies a few days earlier, but didn't end up making them.

I got this recipe from my brother. He found it on someone else's blog, where the guy calls them the World's Best Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies. I'm not quite sure if they're the Best, but they are pretty good. Plus, I've always had a soft spot for raisin oatmeal cookies. For the batch I made for Kevin, I made some chocolate and some raisin. My brother likes to make raisin-chocolate oatmeal cookies...it's really entirely up to you.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1.5 cups white flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups oatmeal
  • 1.5-2 cups chocolate chips/ raisins
  1. Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Mix sugars and butter together.
  3. Add eggs + vanilla, mix.
  4. Mix in Flour, Salt and Baking Soda
  5. Mix in the oatmeal
  6. Stir in some semi-sweet chocolate chips / raisins
  7. Depending on your oven and cookie size each batch should take about 10-15 minutes. I also like to bake them on parchment paper.
  8. Let it cool and serve with Milk. Yum!
